I believe Daniel Amen is on the right track. I am in the field of Behavior Analysis and understand where he is coming from. Obviously, if a physician is getting some extra benies from the drug companies they would be against anything that is less expensive and heals or prevents disease. As the saying goes, there is no money in healing a disease, only in the managing of it symptoms.
