An excellent article! If Congress rushes into approving a "Stimulus" package without proper scrutiny or consultation, they risk wasting huge sums of money on constructing concrete dinosaurs. New roads = new pollution, and when cheap oil is no longer available, few people will be able to motor around on them anyway. Invest in public transport and people's needs - don't go along with highway contractors' proposals, regardless of how "shovel ready" they are!
NO MORE PORK! I am sick to death of the "wish lists" from St. Louis and Missouri government! Come on, a covered skating rink for the City of Florissant? How does that create more jobs? And if it does, who wants to sit at a rink and be paid minimum wage to freeze their butts off? Paving the airport is temprary construction work for blue collar workers...we need infrastructure!!!!
