This is exactly what the insurance companies want; people get to pay the same exhorbitant insurance premiums but are encouraged to expect less care for that premium. Soon, I expect, the insurance companies will refuse to pay for more than one mammogram every 10 years no matter how old the patient is. Health insurance companies are notoriously greedy and, if the ins. cos. ceo's want their multi-million dollar bonuses, they'll have to get it somewhere. What better way for a health ins. co. to raise a bonus than to refuse to pay for YOUR necessary care. They can do it and the fact that 20% of all medical treatments are refused by ins. cos. proves it. This whole health care system we have is a global embarrassment to us.

1. The panel that made the RECOMMENDATIONS on mammograms was appointed by BUSH several years ago. The "study" followed very few women over a very short time. It should also be noted that some of the funding for this "study" came from the insurance industry.
2. The "findings" are merely RECOMMENDATIONS, NOT POLICY and have been REJECTED by the American Cancer Society, the American College of OB/GYNs, and the Obama Adminstration.
3. The recommendations on pap smears follow a trend studied by the AMERICAN COLLEGE OF OB/GYNS. It is the culmination of studies done over the last 20 years by DOCTORS and, again, are RECOMMENDATIONS, NOT POLICY!!!

The mammography recommendation was put forward by an independent panel that didn't include one oncologist, and has been slammed by everyone in Obama's administration. The pap test recommendation was made by the Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology, not connected to the White House at all. In fact, the data they used was compiled starting long before Obama ever got into office. Look it up, it's all public record. This is just another weak, ignorant, uninformed grasp by Palin to stay in the news. It's not surprising though. her whole act from day 1 has been nothing but lies and innuendo.
