What a joke!! 1.4 million that could be spent on the poor, needy or for programs for those who lost their jobs and the PEOPLE have to pay!! I could care less who died to spend that on a dead person!! Incredible!! When my son was murdered 4 years ago and we had no money we had to have him creamated due to the cost of funerals and we go no help!! Now a rich person or used to be rich, dies and the people pay and in there times, what is the difference Wall Street, famous they get special treatment and we foot the bill for their extravagant lifestyles!! Great example to those who are working hard and not getting by!! this is a cruel JOKE!!
Why can't Michaels family or the trust pay for that? I liked Michael Jackson don't get me wrong here...But when Family members die the responsiblity is usually the person who died or the immediate Family.
Yes, I would like to know the revenue that came in. I dont have a problem with a TAX paying family having a funeral and police & fire needed to control the crowds. The city makes ALOT of money from being the entertainment capital. They make ALOT of money with celebs in town, they shouldnt be complaining like this when one of the biggest stars dies. If they were responsible with tax payers $$ in the first place, it wouldnt be a problem.

ok. so I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson, but shouldn't his family pay for his memorial service? We are in a god damn recession! Why is the country pleading that we are bankrupt and then a state decides to sponsor MJs memorial service. This does not make sense!
I don't believe California should be footing the bill for this , his estate could well afford to cover the cost. If California does this they should keep their budget woes to themselves. Can't pay employees and have to cut programs so what in the heck are they doing wasteing money on such foolish stuff.
