A Muscle Car to the Rescue

G.M.’s new Camaro, a throwback to another era, is creating a buzz in otherwise quiet showrooms. » Full Story on New York Times

Will the free market be allowed to "judge" the Camaro or will the government? If there is demand for the car, fine. If there is no market for the car, don't come to us for more tax money.

The only thing muscular about GM is what the UAW and the administration did when they mugged bond holders.

OH BY THE WAY !! One of the bail-out recipients, I think it was Chrysler, paid back $1 billion of what they owe us; Barney Frank wants to give that money to ACORN !!! We are supposed to make a few bucks from those bail-outs instead it is coming in one hand and out the other.

I think we should get some coal burning cars an then sit and idle outside the EPA's offices and Al Gore's Ranch. BTW, have you seen the size of AL? Bigger than a Buffalo. Lots of greenhouses gases released by the cows that are raised to feed him.

And fruit... Has anyone watched a gorrilla bloat up on bananas? Talk about letting pharts rip. Go to a zoo and watch the gorillas after feeding time.

We're doomed I say, doomed, doomed. Make the global warming hypocrits go away!

Problems haven't always been about products, you can't stay in business if you can't make profit cause of bad decisions involving unions.

ABOUT THE CAR....It looks stylish and refined unlike anything GM has made in a long time (barring Corvettes). Honestly if Ford, GM, and Chrysler would not have stopped making muscle cars they would not be the stories of failure they are today. Yeah I know the oil embargo...ok the prob there is that their vehicles sacrificed huge amount of power and performance and gained very little in efficiency. Not only that the overall quality of their product bombed.

Hopefully for GM this car is a new start.

They need to roll the VOLT...not camaros...unless they are going to
put the Volt drivetrain in them. Save us from the Oil barons......then
the tax money invested will be worth it. Of course GM will price it out
of reach for the most of us.....The damn unions can stuffit......come
down South and build our cars...without unionization and without
ridiculous labor costs.

Unlike what King Obama wants us to drive, this is what Americans really want & it is the kind of car that made America a great country. Gas has been minipulated in price by companies, the producers, & Government. There is no reason gas is not .99 a gallon right now.

I have owned a Camaro and I have a Corvette. Both were high maintainence. Neither is really a car for the general public. There will be a lot of inital interest because the cars look cool but there will very limited demand for them.

I grew up with the muscle cars of the 60's, believe me this one won't even come close them. Do they even know what a muscle car really was??? I doubt it. How about a 396 engine, bored 60 thousand over, fuel injection, hood scoop, well you get the picture!!!

I love the retro cars, the Mustang, Challenger, and the Camaro, but I also loved the originals. What amazes me is the fact that we aren't free from dependency on foreign oil when we have more oil than the middle east does. If the government would've stayed out of the way and allowd the oil companies to invest in new, efficient refineries, and tap into our own resources, most of us would love to be driving these cars, and the economy wouldn't have gotten away from us. But there are those who would rather destroy mankind than kill a titmouse. Those few have destroyed us, along with politicians who are braindead.

The Head Monkey will not like this s for it isn't a Green car,,, but it will sell, and Obama will have to slap it down..Lets see if it's 32,000.00 for the hot on and 61% off that price just about anyone can buy one...

"A muscle car to the rescue" ? What do you consider the 600+HP Corvette Z06? The Camaro is only being introduced to satisfy those who can't affore the Vette. I drive a 2002 Corvette Z06 with a built motor putting out 500 HP. It gets 30 to 35 MPG on the highway and around 20 in town. It's seen over 130 MPH and climbing and still gets over 30 MPG. How many cars can truthfully make that claim? It can be done without going to the hybrid designs. Plus, hybrids and electric cars are just ugly.

The auto makers need a reality check. It's not the 60's and if they'd crawl out of bed with big oil and do something different they would have a future. Nobody that actually really drives their car wants one with a ton of batteries and goes just over a hundred miles before recharging is another clue for them. They're so out of touch.

Oh they are going to do this to make their attempt at getting to baby boomers. Keep your Camaro's GM. They sucked before and they won't be any better now. Who wants a government motors car anyways? Our bailout money already went to GM and we get no benefits so why buy anything from them? Die GM, just go away and die.

People like the look of it, but no one will buy it. Sports cars are a miniscule segment of every automakers sales. How many Nissan 350z's do you see compared to Altima's and Maxima's? And if this is simply a family sedan with sports car looks again that is a miss for most consumers. That's like putting fancy rims and a spoiler on your minivan, it looks fast but it still only goes 75mph tops. Try again GM. Better yet, save us the trouble and just go away.

These dummies never learn...They make the same mistakes time and
time again...But then again, judging by consumer gullability, who knows? It's the same package...just a different sales pitch.

As we all know, it doesn’t matter what kind of car this company builds; this company is and always will be run by greedy morons that feel that it's okay to run this company like a candy store; the nail is in the coffin of this company it's just a matter of time that we will attend it's funeral.

What a fine piece of American Muscle!!! How can you expect a company to revive itself selling something that the general public doesn't want...like the VOLT???

Personally, I can't wait to pick up my SS convertible!
