Mystery Couple Starts "Magical" Chain Reaction

It played like a scene from a holiday movie -- a mystery couple, who didn’t leave their names or numbers, walked into a restaurant, finished their meal and then set-off a chain reaction of generosity that lasted for hours.

That’s just what employees at the Aramingo Diner in Port Richmond said a man and a woman did during their breakfast shift last Saturday morning.

“It was magical. I had tears… » Full Story on NBC Philadelphia

I think this is a great story and everyone should read it. I'm going to pay for someone else's check the next time I eat out. If everyone did one thing good for someone else, this world would be a better place to live. Thanks for the story.

I love feel good stories like this. I'll sometimes pick up the check for friends, but I've never considered doing it for strangers. Hmmm.

An uplifting story! If we were able to read more reports like this, surely it would inspire us all to act in ways such as this.

There is some hope left in the world if people do this for one another. Thanks for printing this.

I love this wonderful act of kindness. I can't wait to go out and do the same thing. Wouldn't it be great if random acts of kindness because a norm instead of unusual. I always give to charities ut this would just be to make someone else have a feel good moment. We don't have enough of those some days.

Now that is cool. Why can there not be more news reports talking about things like this instead of all the ugly points in society? I really liked reading this story. You do not see much of this these days.

I'll do this every once in a while at a toll booth. The fun starts when they try to cath up to say thanks . Sometimes there is a trooper shooting radar down the road . Sucks when they get busted for try'n to catch up to say thanks.

Excellent random act of kindness (the gift that keeps on giving). Who couldn't use a gift like this around the Holidays?
P.S. For those in the Philly area, the Aramingo Diner is a great eatery. Stop in some time!
Blessings!

Finally some good news in the world. We should all do this, and things like it more often.

The pay-it-forward aspect of the story is so motivational and uplifting. You never know how many lives you touch with a random act of kindness, or a genuine smile or kind word.

On my way to Walmart, once I offered ride to a girl waiting for bus in the rain. She told me to "F**k off" and I did. Hey at least I offered.

This has nothing to do with religion. I am a Christian that believes the first words of any religious text should be - "Think of others before you think of yourself". We would all be better people and the world would be a better place. It wouldn't have to be a sacrifice - just think of how your actions, whatever they may be, will effect the people you love and the people they love and so on - humanity will thank you.

I've done this before in small ways, maybe just handing over a $5 bill when someone was scrounging to pay for an item. Giving is delightfully selfish; it makes you feel SO good! Oh, and Clare, who commented on this being in the "Christian spirit" - I agree with Lynne above. Not everyone who performs an act of kindness belongs to a religious group, and Christianity is not the only belief system celebrating at this time of year.

How refreshing to know that in this greedy and jaded age, there are still people out there who try to "pay it forward." It would be my guess that the diner's customers are not Wall Street bankers. God bless you, and Merry Christmas to all those kind people!

Sir

Great story! This is what we should all strive to do at least once in our lives...help someone else see a bit of sunshine, not only in their lives, but have to pass it on to others!

I have done this for others, but once an older gentleman did it for my kids and I at Olive Garden, with a bill for over $50. I was quite surprised and thankful...We need encouraging stories at this time and I hope everyone who reads this is inspired to do something before the end of the month to show others that people still care.

Yes, there are millions of good people out there. If each and everyone of us would do a "Random Act of Kindness" everyday, it will multiply more than a million times. We dont have to do it in a restaurant, but that would be fine. We can do a lot of other things, I'm sure you can figure something out. God Bless Us All! Merry Christmas, and a Joyful Life to all of you!

wow... how sweet. why can't there be more people around the world willing to start that chain? why is it that others choose to give us stories of tragedy and trauma while good people do good things right in front of us?
