Michael Jackson's Memorial Could Cost LA Taxpayers

Michael Jackson’s memorial service could cost Los Angeles taxpayers USD$1.4million after a website to recoup costs crashed.
City chiefs set up the donation site for Jackson fans that wanted to help pick up the tab to relieve financial pressure caused by the event. They would have just flushed him down the crapper (like he deserved) but the EPA objected due to all the toxic drugs his body would leach into the water table.

Whatever happened to taxation without representation is tyrranny. I would stop paying taxes all together if this happened in my state.

What all those rich friends who loved him sooo much could not come off with any money? Kobe, Mariah, Sharpton, Stevie, Etc.... Maybe they did not love him as much as they said. Michael screws people out of money even after he is dead.

Just send the bill to the family. They can certainly afford it and his estate should pay it. Even after death, MJ will undoubtedly be one of the highest paid entertainers of the year. Elvis still makes a fortune!

Where are the Jacksons now that there's money to be paid? They wanted this big funeral service-let them pay for it. Why should the taxpayers be charged. Not everyone in LA went to the service-why should they pay for it? They should have just tossed his body onto the grounds of Neverland and let the wolves & coyotes have at him!! It would not have cost anyone anything!!

this horror show had a PROMOTER... as such it was a show, so the promotion company should be responsible for the bill... and what on earth was a swat team needed for? to protect a gold plated casket? just shows how stupid our administration is.. glad i left la two years ago. its become a glorified ghetto....rats on the docks and pollution from removing oil fields... what a horrible place it has become... perhaps it will be the next detroit.

carmensdaughter...you write so many negative things about MJ yet you seem to be obsessed with him at the same time. in every article you've made at least one comment about him. do us all a favor a get a life. don't you have anything better to do throughout your day. you are so pathetic it's sad.

p.s. when you point the finger you have three more pointing back at you. you should judge yourself before you start judging others...bitch

Maybe CA should have tried to get some funding upfront from the Jackson family. Now it looks as though the taxpayers are gonna get it in the rear.

They should have passed the collection plates at the funeral while they had those who cared in one place... Don't look to me... I sure don't!

Just put his body on the next space shuttle flight. Dump it out up there, and once the Aliens on other planets check it out, they won't want anything to do with our planet.

Spend, spend, and spend some more money that you don't have. No wonder California and L.A. are in dire financial conditions. California is so broke that they should have auctioned the fan tickets to the memorial. Scalpers got $2,000+ for tickets they didn't pay anything for. $2,000*10,000 = $20 million. Plenty to pay for the service and pay down other debts.
