Seriously, people, the generalized description of the old pirates is a bit off the mark. My family tree is full of them. Mother's side. When their sanctioned thievery became too risky, they entered the slave trade. (One was killed by his slaves) When Slavery went out of business following the Civil War, they became attorneys. So far, nobody in the family tree has stooped so low as to become a journalist or run for political office, but there are a lot of Democrats in the clan. ;-)
Poverty does NOT breed crime. We need to look deeper.
Crime ALWAYS breeds Poverty, somewhere. Whether it's in the back alleys or the boardroom or on the high seas, crime breeds poverty. Illegal dumping, overfishing, AND piracy must be stopped.
