For American investors worried about the safety of U.S. banks, it will soon be too late to seek an alternative.
That’s because the new Democrat-controlled Congress has plans to make it virtually illegal for an American citizen to open a bank account in another country—even for legitimate business purposes.
It’s already very difficult. Many foreign banks no longer will do business with Americans due to the onerous reporting requirements of the U.S. Patriot Act.
Led by Michigan Senator Carl Levin, the Democrats believe foreign bank accounts allow ex-pats and others to avoid income taxes—at least $100 billion worth—and they are determined to collect it. In March 2009, Levin proposed new draconian rules to make it almost impossible for a U.S. citizen to open foreign bank accounts.
Bush was even for the bailouts.And he started these mess.Obama will go down in history as the most spending president.Bush will go down as the president with the most defecit in history.I think bush got us in this mess and it will take a long time to get out of it.
The Democrats are putting chains of debt on all of us. Obama is planning to add $1.8 Trillion to the national debt in 2009. This is unconstitutional!

Our money has been stolen and even with our stolen money we now have the largest deficit ever. Hitler is doing exactly what we wants-destroying the country he hates while helping out the terrorists that he really works for at Al Qaeda through stealing our money and giving to the terrorists at Citigroup, Hamas, etc.

We have nearly 10% unemployment that's still climbing despite that phony "stimulus" package. Congress has maxed out our country's credit. We've got cap and trade tax and a VAT tax looming on the horizon. They're spending so much money it'll be impossible to pay it back in our lifetime even if the tax rate was doubled.
Bottom line is, our kids and grandkids will be serfs in the new collectivist utopia.

We borrowed more in the last 6 months than in the past 30 years. This year’s deficit is 4 times our highest previous deficit.
Obama wants to control the entire country, private industry, banks, insurance companies, health care, energy. None of this is constitutional. The balance of power has shifted from the people, where it rightfully belongs, to the government. We -- and our kids and grandkids -- are being saddled with trillion dollar deficits.
It's time to sweep out Congress in 2010 and get back to the country our founding fathers envisioned.

By the end of the year it will be 2 trillion and in ten years it will be close to 12 trillion. Where in the hell is all that money coming from? It can't be us the taxpayer we have none left. 300 billion deficit at the end of Bush's term. Bush's 700 billion dollar stimulus and Obama's 780 billion dollar stimulus, what did you expect to happen. It if had not been for both stimuli, we would not have such a large deficit. We can only hope they do not continue to spend without tax revenue to make up the difference. The biggest problem as stated in the article - "the U.S. debt now stands at $11.5 trillion. Interest payments on the debt cost $452 billion last year — the largest federal spending category after Medicare-Medicaid, Social Security and defense." One can only hope that if there is a government health plan, it means that Medicare and Medicaid can be drastically cut freeing up federal and state funds and the billions spent on the uninsured. The government collects about 2 trillion in taxes each year and the governments should never spend more than we collect and put some aside to pay off the national debt.
