Clearly if american presidents are going to be allowed to initiate secret programs then we better regulations concerning the minimal judicial oversight required. It is unsatisfactory, if not impossible, to say the least to attempt look back through the tangles of red-tape, bureuacratic gamesmanship, jingoistic cris of "National Security" and such, and verify the legality of these all too often, ill-conceived, highly expensive, boondoggles taken at the expense of the reputation of the American People and its constitution. If the federal government won't respect its obligations and the rule of law, both foreign and domestic, how can we expect, as citizens of this country to survive in the face of such hubris?
Who cares. Only the Obama idiots who have all day to read the newspaper as they wait for the govt checks care about this all.
It came as no surprise after the Supreme Court shutdown the recount in Florida! Even though Gore accepted the decision, many familiar with the Constitution and Law in America dissented loudly to deaf ears. Cheney made it obvious that he was going to challenge the Constitution of our country at every opportunity and he was successful at running the most secretive Administration with puppet Bush in the history of America. Why should news such as this be a surprise? Few would be surprised if by chance, it were proven that 911 was "caused by" if not directly programed by the same pirates and swindlers. Thanks for the parting gift GW, the financial meltdown. How much did you pay Alan Greenspan to keep zipped about it while trudging off to the U.K. to live? We are where we are today as a result of impeachable offenses for eight LONG years of swindling and gross misconduct by hundreds directly connected to that unconscionable administration!
Bush really had no respect for the law, did he? It says a lot about the integrity of the current CIA director that he brought this to the attention of congress the next day. (And it doesn't say much for the integrity of the CIA that it took 4 months for him to uncover it. It's nice to know they hide things from their own director!) I'm not surprised, but it saddens me to know that a national tragedy like 9/11 was used as an excuse to trample on our basic rights as citizens.
mmm...this goes back further than GWB.....the Government has engaged in many horrible things....H. Truman (Democrat) released
Serratia Marcescens over San Francisco in 1951...it made a whole lot of folks ill.....if one is to be called on the carpet...call em all!
I guess they are worried about the the govt listen to their boring lives.... Only a drug dealer would care.... Which is who voted for Obama anyway and blacks which I expect to be stupid. Blacks have been used liked a condom since Ive been alive. The other people who voted for Obama is self hating white people. Dummies in other words.
Juke, maybe you should read the constitution, assuming you can read. Obama, in 4 months, violated the constitution more times than the sum total of all presidents in American history.
Show us the portion of the constitution that allows a president:
to appoint all powerful Czars;
to spend $277 million to create a Czar to distribute pork;
to hold ownership of a privately held company;
to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortion around the world;
to use taxpayer dollars to fund the felons at ACORN;
to use taxpayer dollars to fund La Raza;
to use taxpayer dollars to fund terrorists (Hamas);
to extend power into the private medical sector;
to extend power into the private energy sector;
to ignore 600,000 seniors in foreclosure while funding the above evil entities.
Just to name a few.
the ulterior motive of homeland security is to monitor u.s. citizens and reduce their civil liberties...to implement their totalitarian designs they needed some major event...thus came 9/11...a CIA black op engineered to begin the gradual transformation of america into an Orwellian police state...
Yeah, it took a while to get used to it, but eventually me and the old lady would just smile and wave at the cameras while I was banging her brains out...
BUSH'S wiretapping?
Are the media forgetting that Obama has only been in office a few months and has not only continued Bush's wiretapping program, but Legitimized it and EXPANDED it?!
I'm no fan of Bush, but if you want to toss blame around - for crying out loud try to at least Look reputable about it!!
Man, thats quite a powerful government to be watching your EVERY MOVE. Somebody at the joystick was having fun watching, whoever, and jotting down their routines. All that technology...Which means it still exist folks.
Look up in the sky, its a bird, its a plane...NO its Uncle Bo & Joe Sam's satellite
The Government's been watching everyone for eons. They did it then under Bush and before Bush, they are still doing it under Obama. It won't ever stop. They have satellites that can read the time off of your wristwatch for goodness sake!
You're complaining about wiretapping and the US Government is on it's way to a complete "Big Brother" situation right this second under Obama and the plastic puppet Pelosi? We are in the biggest economic crisis basically since the Great Crash of '29/'30 and spending trillions of dollars we don't freaking have, some of it borrowed from commie China that my great grandchildren will still be drowning in, and you still are playing the blame game with the previous administration?!?
Honestly?!?!
What should be most frightening to the average American is the loss of civil liberties. We believe we have freedom of speech. We exercise this freedom on the internet, especially since we have come to realize the amount of bias in the media. So here we each gather to share news and voice our opinions and our concerns. But what of the Patriot Act. I have criticized the President for not doing away with this assault on our privacy as US citizens, and that you, I or anyone, regardless of party affiliation, are subject to be picked up in the middle of the night Gestapo fashion by armed Federal agents.
Think it can't happen you you?
Do you feel safe freely blogging away, expressing any discontent you may feel toward our Orwellian government?
Then I urge you to see this news brief about what happened to a sixteen year old American child at the hands of the government. Believe me, it is worth a look and much consideration.

who f***** cares except for yellow bellied coward liberals. this is the only way they can take pressure off of pelosi. and panetta should be ashamed of himself and thrown out of this country along with the pretender president. don't see the c.i.a. investigating obamas pakistani terrorist ties, or how a non natural citizen won't release his real birth certificate. makes panetti just as guilty to a crime.
Yes Dan you're right about that and it was the Patriot Act, a wartime device that introduced us all to FASCISM....! You will be hauled-off if you threaten the President, incite a riot or active revolt, and a variety of misdemeanors. Yahoo will give your name and ISP to the Feds in a heartbeat. Courts are throwing out cases wherein the police claim that it was of a political nature but in fact wasn't. However, watch what you say because should the day come and all hell breaks loose you will be locked up for past comments. Just take my word for it. Ask a cop.
By far the worst president is US history; Pure evangelical fundamentalist EVIL...
Good, I'm glad he did what needed to be done. 9/11 was unprecedented too and if immediate actions needed to be taken because Clinton left this country so vunerable than I can't blame Bush or the CIA for doing it.
I copied the following from ScottV on another thread because it's appropriate here. Good work Scott.
USA PATRIOT Act
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The USA PATRIOT Act, commonly known as the "Patriot Act", is a statute enacted by the United States Government that President George W. Bush signed into law on October 26, 2001. The contrived acronym stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (Public Law Pub.L. 107-56).
Passed the House on October 24, 2001 (Yeas: 357; Nays: 66)
Passed the Senate on October 25, 2001 (Yeas: 98; Nays: 1)
Signed into law by President Bush on October 26, 2001
Notable Democrat Senators out of 48 who voted Aye:
Baucus, Biden, Boxer, Byrd, Clinton, Daschle, Dodd, Durbin, Edwards, Feinstein, Hollings, Inouye, Kennedy, Kerry, Leahy, Reid, Schumer, Torricelli
Radical Islamic Terrorists hate us. They have vowed to destroy western cultures. Thanks President Bush for protecting us after 9/11. The 9/11 families also are grateful. A released Gitmo Terrorist is now a Taliban Leader in Afghanistan killing U.S. troops. Obama, Gitmo worked!!
WAKE UP AMERICA
While in office he & his cohort are responsible for a little over 500,000 people, not even counting the bad guys. And now it comes out the Kurds have all the brains. Poor Mr. Bush selling all that water for more than the price of gasoline. War Crimes or Treason one way or another, It's time to pay for your play. Don't think anybody is going to save you, if they do there will be major adjustments to D.C.
Ole' George and Dick surely got away with a lot of mess during their 8 years in office. But lets be clear of one thing: neither one of them will ever see any jailtime for their dirty deeds- illegal wiretapping among many others. The Democratic controlled Congress will never launch any criminal investigations as they know it would lead to both G.Bush and D.Cheney at the controls.If it were the other way around, the Republicans would no problem whatsoever of taking the Democrats to the cleaners. I say let the chips fall where they fall.Americans need to know.
Tricky Dickie had to resign because he was a criminal. It was either that, or be impeached. Bush and Cheney didn't learn any lessons from the Watergate Scandal. We don't have to worry that President Obama will fall into that trap, because he's above that. However the Republicans will always take a mile if you give them an inch. That's why the Bush and Cheney lawlessness needs to be revisited, and an example made of them. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Do it now, and let the chips fall where they may. The future of our country will be better off because of it.
It's just a ploy to distract from the real issues. Like gov't controlled heathcare under a bankrupt gov't. Wake up people.
Good, it shows that Bush and Cheney protected the country. It's the Obama administration that will use and expand the same tactics for nefarious purposes.
My God - and still the Idiot Bush lovers cant even read the entire report to make an intelligent comment - BUSH LOVERS - the article point blank says - the extended power DID NOT YIELD and real results to the FBI in counter terrorism or terrorism...Its didnt do jack in protecting anything...What it did do - is allow those cuban spies to gain alot of intelligence of US government operations - which is how the Russians and Iranians including Iraq - knew every thing we were doing during the War. Bush opened the US's borders, intel and everything else up for other countries to spy on us...You Bush Lovers are real idiots...
