The weight of responsibility for the extent of damage that these fires cause must be laid at the feet of organizations like the Sierra Club and the politicians that listen to them.

California needs a fire break system to avoid the devastation, injuries, loss of lives, and loss of properties. In the long run it would be much cheaper and it provide revenue in the form of lumber.

Governor Arnold, please bring some sanity to California and get this done.

Schwarzenegger should 'terminate' the influence of groups like the Serra Club.

And take 'commando' of the safety improvements himself.

Then he could 'last action hero' the congress into approving his ideas.

And the citizens could 'jingle all the way' home.

I agree. I feel there should be a levy system that breaks the fires ability to rush down mountains. Also some kind of network of irrigation or water delivery system or combination of the two to control these fires. I mean really. It pretty much happens every year..i mean some kind of fire. So lets just be proactive about it.

You are all so pathetic. Insipid comments as is the norm for the So Cal Yuppie of the 21st century.
It was irresponsible to build in those areas in the first place.
Proactive? Oh, please!
