Have the estate of the Freak Michael Jackson pay for it. This is about the stupidest idiotic thing I have ever heard of.

A city or state in what used to be the United States of America is expected to fork over millions of dollars to pay for a child molesters freak's funeral? You are all Dumb A$$E$ is you pay that is all i say. Send the molesters fammily the bill and guess what, they still have not buried this piece of trash. Now there will be additional expense when they finally open the man hole cover and dump him in as there will be people there to watch..

Stupid waste of money. Just as stupid as Michelle Osama obama Husein and her kids going for fish and chips in England making the U. S. Citizens pay for the security and the use of the plane just so they could go eat in down town London.

These Indonesians need to be kicked right out of this country. We have people starving and have no jobs.Well let me tell you this ()isses a lot of people off.

why should the city pay something when they are already having financial problems? most people end up paying for their family funeral things. i just don't understand the point in having the city help pay for things when its already having financial problems if they weren't then it wouldn't be a big deal but since it has problems it just doesn't make sense when that money could be used to help the city.

That is ridiculous! He may have been "king of pop" but what did he do to deserve such an expensive memorial. He's still a human just like the rest of us! If LA and Hollywood "honored" him so much let them pay for it, their the ones with millions upon billions of dollars. Give me a break. Why don't we use that money on something to work for America not for someone that's dead.

Kudos to Beef I agree completely!!!! As for Patricia, I'm sorry but your just as ridiculous as the rest of em. He's a person just like you and I. No one, and I mean NO ONE should be held upon a pedestal like that! I know there may have been more to him than what our eyes seen, but seriously, he was a little off his rocker. And i sure as heck don't think he was an inspiration. I mean who in their right mind wants to change their skin color, and completely destroy their face? Instead of spending money like it's growing on trees why not replace some of the jobs lost across what used to be America, i'm not sure where we're going now. I just pray God will contiune to be there for us, eventhough we don't deserve it.

I think LA should pick up the cost, he was a taxpayer. Sure he paid more than his share in his life. I'm glad the cicus is over. They pay for other security for music events, if anything the city should pay the estate for getting all the big wigs in there. You know after lunch they all went out to 5 star resturants, spending a lot of money. Don't get me wrong here I didn't think the crap should've taken up so much air time, didn't care for him after the second molestation charge. Believe he was a glorified drug junkie and we shouldn't praise him. Don't worry we shouldn't fall all over that piece of crap Elvis either he also a child molester drug junkie, both of them kings HA they got what they wanted relief from their pain. All the taxes it gets from the stars living there thats what you can expect, if not then ask them to leave with their tax dollars. Now LA pay up it's your job.

Well if they wouldnt put on a good for nothing funeral, they wouldnt have to be 1.4 mill in debt. The funeral was useles and it was a waste of taxpayer money. That is the homos second publi apperance so they can go back to there holes and hibernate till next year!

leave it California to hire over 4000 cops to guard 1,000 people. Idiots, no wonder the State is broke.. Oh by the way can anyone explain why this is even news?

I believe the family should pay for the funeral. Our families have to pay for ours. If California is spending this kind of money just to bury someone what other foolish things did they waste their money on to be in debt? No sympathy for either the Jackson adults or the state of California. The ones I do feel sorry for is the three kids. It is their dad we are talking about.

So If I and when I die I will have the U.S. pay for allllll of my services.....RIGHT. Forget L.A.; we are already in debt; why should we pay for all that. On top of that if we pay for all that crap then L.A. can over night everyone that IS A U.S. citizen a job, with good pay and benifits. On top of that they can pay off allllll of our debts. So in conclution I loved all of his music and he was an ok guy "overall". But here is to you L.A. "The Grand Middle Finger " for you. So in other words ...................."YOU" PAY FOR IT DUMB-ASSES

And people wonder why our state is in a financial crisis!!! GET A CLUE!!!! No1 ever said that his memorial had to be an all out all day all city event! I think that LA asking for donations is ridiculous. What about the Jackson family they are the one's who had this public memorial why don't they foot the bill? It's not like they don't have the money in hand. Maybe LA could get some of his "close friends" that spoke at the memorial to take care of it. I think it's pretty sad how money is not managed in CA. I am happy I don't live in that state!

The tradition is for the estate of the deceased to pay for all expenses relating to the memorial, funeral, souvenirs, music, police escorts & the cost to rent the venue for the gathering. The Jackson family & the attorneys for Michael's estate decided to honor him with the type of grandiose service that befits his stature as an entertainer. This means
they have the obligation to pay for all the cost that the City of Los Angeles spent to meet their wants & needs. They should not expect the taxpayers or Michael's fans to pay. In spite of Michael's debts, his extate is now receiving millions of dollars from the sale of anything relating to him; i.e., cd's, dvd's, books, etc. Let's hope his family has the grace to do what is right in his memory. May he rest in peace.

Why do people believe that MJ is so broke. It's just not possible. He money is way longer than the amount he had to put out for those cout cases. MJ was great business man and I just dont believe that he allowed himself to get bankrupt. What ever type of financial problems he have over here is because they cant get to the Billions of dollars he has in thos Swiss Bank Account and s*** ...Go Michael!!!!!

Why ask us to donate money towards the dead, when we can donate to the millions of starving and improvished people still living? This BS is unbelievable. If MJ was the humanitarian that he claimed to be, he wouldn't want this!

Let his estate pay for it for crying out loud. They say, that now that he's dead, that the estate will grow in leaps & bounds ( like Elvis's did ) SO LET THE ESTATE PAY FOR IT ! ! ! Why should the people of L.A. have to cough the money ? ? ? And BTY, MJ didn't find a cure for cancer, so why the rediculous over-sized & EXPENSIVE funeral any way ? Lets honor the true heroes in life, THE RESEARCH SCIENTISTS who are trying hard to come up with cures, FOR YOU !

People, please read the article. The 1.1 million was not the cost for the memorial -- but for the extraordinary amount of police security the city THOUGHT it needed. This has nothing to do with Jackson supposedly getting a free funeral or having tax payers pay for his burial.

Also, I think the city of LA should foot the bill. The memorial service brought in tons of press, fans, and good PR to the city. It is not the Jackson family's fault that the city F'ed up. Plus, I sort of think this comes with the turf of living in LA ... celebrity nonsense. Dont like it, move out the tax area.

All you commenters are giving your thoughts on who should cover it, did you not stop to think that there were just short of 1 million people there. If they all spent $1.40 it would have covered it. They have already established this and would like you to cover them getting out of debt. Spend your money wisely but before you make idiotic statements on who should pay for it, be sure everybody has already been paid in full.

I DON'T MIND HELPING OUT WITH THE COST. ITS THE LEAST WE CAN DO...OUR CHANCE TO PAY BACK FOR WHAT MJ GAVE US? ONLY PROBLEM: WHERES THE SITE? NAME?

His family should pay for this after all they will be the ones to profit from it.....When I die, my family will have to foot the bill if I don't have
the cash put aside for it, so why should he be any different.

I agree, LA is responsible for this large bill. Like a previous comment said...read the article before you post. They put themselves in this situation. Also, no one on this planet should pass negative judgement on this funeral, especially if you are not a direct family member. MJ's funeral was called for because of the outpooring of fans and loved ones...but don't take my word for it. Just ask the 32 million people who watched it...not to mention all the folks online.

The only thing I would give L.A. is a can of gas if they promised to use it to burn the city to the ground.
